Freezes on IE and Firefox
Freezes on IE and Firefox
« on: 06.24.08 | 12:50 PM »
So I tried playing FE:L on Firefox 2.0.0.14, and it froze right at the beginning.  I don't even get past the part that says "Game Starts in 9 Seconds."  I tried it a few times, with the same results.  Then I switched to IE, and while I was able to move around a bit there, it froze up after just a few seconds of play time.  I can't play this game at all, and I really want to.

Anybody else having this issue?

EDIT: to help more, I am posting the bug form.
Summary:
Freezing/Crashing just seconds after start.

Description:
I log into the game, being the only player, and it starts me in with the countdown.  I get to play the game, and move around a bit, even shoot if I'm fast enough.  But the problem comes just a few seconds later.  It freezes.  I don't know why, but it happens.  My entire browser freezes up.  It becomes non responsive.  I then tried it in Internet Explorer, same thing happened.    This is happening with both browsers, and I don't understand why.

I should also mention one other thing of noteworthy importance.  If I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, it brings the browser back from being dead, but it doesn't let me play the game.

Reproduceability:
It always happens.  No matter what.

I got the same problem, I press ready in a game it loads, then blank....nothing it's just frozen for no good reason, then it goes to the paused menu for no good reason.

Have you guys tried to remove any usb devices possible, if so than remove them, if you have yet to than do so, this might resolve the problem.

My USB device would include my mouse.  That's not very conducive to my playing.

Yeah I remember for some reason when I tried to use my flash drive, my game would mess up and lag, and freeze it was pretty bad. Though it was a flash drive, and I have a usb mouse in right now, I can't remember what I did to fix it, so you'll have to hope that isn't the problem or give me a moment to recollect my thoughts I'm so sorry for this delay.

Okay, that seemed to help, but it still froze up from time to time.  I was able to play for about 1-2 minutes that time, lol.

Also note that no other game has this issue with me.  It is only this one.

Computer specifications would really help in diagnosing this issue.

Upload your dxdiag please.

Fixed my freezing issues by updating my Nvidia drivers.  Current release is 175.something

ROFL, this is what happened ALL THE TIME when i first got my computer!

It might be your video card - mine didn't support any of the games i played that were on a CD, so it froze up just a few seconds after the game started, so we sent it to customer support, and even though they sent me a worse one (which i hate them for), it worked on my games.

Summary - Check video card compatibility

It's a laptop, and the drivers are specially made by HP.  I hate HP, and will never buy anything from their company again.  I knew I should have never trusted them.

Long story short: I can't update my drivers, as HP doesn't care about people that bought their stuff, only people that are looking at buying their stuff.  They are like a less publicized Comcast.

This issue has come up before with other laptop users, you need to get third party up-to-date drivers for your graphics card from what I remember. Try googling for it, I can't find the link atm.

USUALLY a 510 may be resolved by clicking the retry button.
