Terrain Transparency Bug
Terrain Transparency Bug
« on: 06.28.08 | 07:46 AM »
Currently, I am experiencing issues with Terrain Transparency on both Snow and Grass maps. The local non-collidable flora is still visible giving me a rough idea of how the terrain is sloped etc. However, whenever I am facing an Interior Instance *building/object* I can see the entirety of said object through the terrain.

I have fiddled and tweaked with odd settings for the past couple of days trying to rule out an issue on my end, but to no avail. Including updating drivers and .dll sniffing.

As you might expect, this makes it extremely difficult to play.
The issue seems to have lessened after disabling anti-aliasing, *ie the picture above* but it is far from gone.

I've been building on, and toying with the Torque Engine for many years, and have never encountered an issue like this before outside of a world editor.

Addendum: The issue is not limited exclusively to terrain. When standing on top of an Interior Instance *ie the flag tower* I can see the tunnel and ramp below.

Disabling AA or letting the application decide?

Anyways shoot out the system specs.

Disabling AA or letting the application decide?

Fiddled with both actually.

I'm on my windows machine which is a "meh" system at best. I'm primarily Linux so it's only expected this machine be such a heap.

Pentium D 2.8 GHz
nVidia GeForce 7600 GT PCIE 256 MB
   175.16 drivers *6.14.0011*
3 GB DDR2
Windows XP SP2
DirectX 9.0c

Nothing to write home about, but it's solid for a ready to travel gaming machine. As I've said I've been toying with graphic settings for a day or two now to no avail. I've evern installed several other hard hitting games, Tribes 2, Star Wars Galaxies, and Assassin's Creed. None of those are giving me graphical problems whatsoever. Even when running at peak quality.

If you have a solution of any sort, please don't refrain from being technical. I've been working in Game Design for years now, you won't scare me off.

Thanks!
