[Server] Flag and IFF distance

Well we cant agree on perm IFF for flag or players so I had a thought just a few min back for a way to fix it.

Server config option to set sencor range to hosts prefrances, this could be set to short range or full map, at full map EVERYBODY shows up on IFF/hud, at low range they gotta be within that distance of the tower.

I realy think this would be a way to avoid the complaints about not being able to see everybody or the carrier but would also allow those of us who think perm on flag IFF would ruin our fun to not use it.

never mind, stupid idea, like all my ideas.

AshenTech, for christ's sake, this issue has been discussed into oblivion. Just starting another thread restating your opinion doesn't change anything. Please, just give it up until permanent flag indicators actually have a chance to get tested.

Did you actually read the post? Or just post for the sake of it? He's making a suggestion to keep everyone happy. Those who want permenant flag indicators have the option to turn them on, those of us who don't want them can turn them off.

Why is that so hard for you to understand? Or are you now just attacking AshenTech in every thread just because?

A server option wouldn't be bad and is a viable solution.

As for these 20 people that wouldn't support the game because of perm flag indicators... I'm sorry but that's an absurd reason.  This game is shaping up to be decent and to abandon it because of an option that helps guide the player to an objective is crazy.  Over the years, a lot of game developers have added functionality to games that have made it easier to identify objectives, is that really a reason not to support a game?  Yes that could be their reason, but that's EXTREMELY petty.  Really, it would be nice to have people try it before they say they won't support something, try being open minded a tad...

THIS HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN DISCUSSED, it's a new idea to keep both parties happy. It's because people are more interested in starting fights than coming up with decent suggestions to keep everyone happy that we don't get anywhere.

The flag is part of essential gameplay, you either allow it for everyone or not at all.  People shouldn't have to deal with half the servers showing a permanent indicator and the other half where the capper can hide.  The game needs consistency.

How about make it a option to turn it on and off and make it active at different ranges via a bar you move left and right...
